Comments
Suggested text: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment forms, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user agent string in the browser to help us detect spam.
An anonymized string (also called a hash), created from your email addresses, can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile photo is visible to the public next to your comment.
Media
Suggested text: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that have embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract all location data from the images on the website.
Cookies
Suggested text: If you leave a comment on our website, you can opt to have your name, email address and website saved in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill them in again when you leave another comment. These cookies will be valid for one year.
If you go to our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we’ll also set some cookies to save your login information and display options on your screen. Authentication cookies are kept for two days and on-screen display options cookies are kept for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your login cookies will be kept for two weeks. If you sign out of your account, your authentication cookies will be deleted.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not include any personal data and simply indicates the ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly the same as if visitors were viewing another website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with embedded content, including tracking your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that website.
Who we share your data with
Suggested text: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This way we can automatically recognize and approve all the following comments instead of keeping them in a queue for moderation.
For users (if any) who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (but cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
What rights you have over your data
Suggested text: If you have an account or have left comments on this website, you can ask to receive an export file with the personal data we hold about you, including all the data you have provided to us. You can also ask us to delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Suggested text: visitor comments can be checked by an automated spam detection service.
